Study: In Live Faithfully: A Study in the Book of James, Lenya Heitzig and Penny Rose examine the quality of faith in the lives of believers in terms of attitudes and actions. James encourages believers that our walk and our talk should match. Many times Christians sit under great teaching each week but what they learn about how to live practically as Christians doesn't always translate into their behavior. This study is a highly interactive and intensely personal journey through the book of James. Hospitality on Sundays - Join the team on Sunday mornings as they set up/clean up the coffee, tea, and treats that enable people to linger, fellowship and share their lives with each other after both services. Meals to those in need - This is a wonderful way to bless those in need (after a new baby, an emergency surgery, or a chronic or incapacitating illness) by bringing a meal (dinner) to them. It is easy to do. You can plan ahead by making twice as much one or two nights as you make your own meals, then put the extra portions in the freezer to take when an opportunity arises! The Women's Retreat this year was profoundly refreshing.   Amongst the lush and flower-laden grounds of the Cedar Springs Retreat Center was a peaceful presence of the Holy Spirit working and ministering to our women.  The subject of the retreat was "Cross Training" and the topics were on "Standing in Grace", "Walking in Hope", and "Running with Endurance".  The teachings were a reminder of our God's grace, faithfulness and strength always working in us. We also received the much needed exhortation to look to God's Word as the "Truth, nothing but the truth - and believing it to be true in our own lives."  I was brought to a place of quiet repentance that showed me once again that God is my strength and that He desires to be strong on our behalf no matter what the case may be: my sin, my unbelief, or looking to worldly hope instead of real hope in Christ.  The powerful testimonies of 3 amazing women were the highlight of it all for me - I have a tendency to forget how powerfully God is working in the world, in the hearts of others - in His children, and it's good to be reminded. These testimonies brought me to a place of remembering that He WILL always be faithful, again and again . . . it absolutely makes me want to stand up and shout "Hallelujah! - Glory and honor and praise to our God." Thanks to everyone, I can't wait for next year!
